Our top priority is the health and safety of our students, staff, and families. We have developed a plan for the prevention of COVID-19 in our schools based on guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).
The following guidelines will be in place for all schools in both District 75 and District 120:
Full Return to In-Person Learning
Parents/Guardians are not required to complete daily self-certification of their child’s COVID-19 symptoms. Instead, by sending your child to school each day you are certifying that your child is not displaying any COVID-19 symptoms.
Resume locker and storage assignments.
Remove restrictions on shared materials.
Resume all clubs, activities and sports with mitigation measures.
Mitigation Measures
-
Social distancing of at least 3 feet where possible in classrooms and 6 feet where possible in common areas (hallways, cafeterias).
-
Disinfecting our schools, including the daily use of virus-killing UVC lighting units. All touch points (door handles, faucets, etc.) are sprayed with electrostatic disinfectant throughout the day.
-
All ventilation systems will provide air turnover allowing for the proper amount of outside fresh air.
-
Promoting frequent hand-washing.
Masks
-
It is strongly recommended that all District 75 and 120 students, staff and visitors wear a mask in school buildings regardless of vaccination status.
-
Masks for all individuals (age 3 and older) are required on school buses, regardless of vaccination status, as school buses and other school transport qualify as public transport.
Contact Tracing and Quarantine
-
Students and staff who test positive will be excluded from school for a minimum of five days. If they opt to return to school after five days, they are required to wear a mask in school for the next five days (days 6-10 from their positive test date).
-
The “Test-to-Stay” program is no longer an option, but SHIELD testing continues to be available as an option.
-
Contact tracing will continue, but students and staff identified as close contacts will no longer be excluded.
