Physical Education

Basketball Grades Kindergarten - 2 

  • In Kindergarten through second grade, students have  daily physical education for 25 minutes.
  • Instructional units provide an introduction to the rules of play and correct form for each activity. There are opportunities for individual practice and team engagement
  • Grades K-2 Unit Topics:

    • Basketball, Dance, Floor Hockey, Juggling, Mindful movement, Soccer, Tumbling, Underhand throwing, Volleyball


Soccer Grades 3-5 

  • In third through fifth grade, students have daily physical education for 25 minutes. 
  • Instructional units refine skills and knowledge based on previous experiences to provide differentiated growth in each unit.
  • Grades 3-5 Unit Topics: 
     
    • Basketball, Bowling, Fitness, Floor Hockey, Flag Football, Frisbee, Gymnastics, Kickball, Lacrosse, Martial Arts, Racket Sports, Soccer, Softball, Track & Field, Volleyball


Football Grades 6-8

  • In middle school, students have daily physical education for one class period of 42 minutes. 
  • Seventh and eighth grade students dress in a physical education uniform during class.
  • Sixth and eighth grade students participate in a Health unit for 9-11 weeks during their physical education class.
  • Grades 6 Unit Topics:
     
    • Basketball, Fitness, Flag Football, Handball, Kickball, Saturn ball, Soccer, Softball, Volleyball

  • Grades 7/8 Unit Topics:

    • Badminton, Bowling, Circuit training, Flag Football, Frisbee Golf, Nitroball, Pickleball, Soccer, Softball, Ultimate Frisbee, Volleyball

Heart_Icon_Transparent  Comprehensive Personal Health and Safety and Sexual Education Act (Public Act 102-0522)

On June 14, 2022, the Illinois State Board of Education adopted the National Sex Education Standards as the Illinois Learning Standards for sexual health education. This was done in compliance with The Comprehensive Personal Health and Safety and Sexual Health Education Act. 

Mundelein Elementary District 75 did not adopt the National Sex Education Standards as presented. Programs are in alignment with the national sex education standards, but do not cover all standards.

  • Parents/guardians have the opportunity to opt their children out of the instruction

  • School districts that choose to provide instruction in sexual health education must develop or select a curriculum that is aligned with the new standards

  • Grade 6

    • Alcohol, Tobacco and other drugs, Diseases, Growth and Development, Health and Wellness, Nutrition and Fitness, Safety, Social Media

  • Grade 8

    • Diseases, Drugs, Nutrition, Relationships, Reproductive Health, Wellness
