8th Grade Promotion Important Dates
Dear Class of 2031 Parents,
As our 8th-grade students move through the second half of the school year, Sandburg has several events that support the transition from their elementary experience to their high school years. A schedule of major events is listed below:
- Tuesday, October 20, 2026: Students will attend the Career Navig8 Lake Career Fair at the Lake County Fairgrounds during the school day at no cost. Students will explore different career pathways, meet local professionals, and learn about careers and skills that can help prepare them for their future.
- Tuesday, November 3, 2026: 8th Grade Springfield Trip Parent meeting at Carl Sandburg Middle School at 7:00 PM in the MPR. If your child is interested in attending this optional trip, please join us for an informational meeting with Mr. Sather. If you have any questions, please contact nsather@d75.org.
- Thursday, November 12, 2026: MHS Fine Arts Assembly for all CSMS 8th Graders (held during the school day). Students will be introduced to the MHS Fine Arts Program!
- Thursday, November 12, 2026: MHS Class of 2031 Freshman Orientation. All 8th-grade students and parents are invited to attend this informational meeting at MHS. Mundelein High School will send out information regarding Freshman Orientation directly to you.
- Wednesday, November 18, 2026: 8th Grade gown measurements (NO cap is worn). All 8th-grade students will have their height measurements done during the school day. They will bring home their promotion gown in June 2027.
- Wednesday, December 9, 2026: MHS Class of 2031 Course Placement: MHS counselors will be at CSMS from 8:45 am - 1:45 pm to meet with all CSMS 8th graders to discuss, select, and build their freshman schedule. Parents are welcome to attend. Students will receive course selection information before December 19th.
- Wednesday, February 17, 2027: 8th Grade Student Promotion Pictures – 8th-grade students will be photographed in a promotion gown as well as their street clothes. All students will be photographed and proofs will be sent home. If you like the pictures, you may place an order; if you don’t like them, simply return the proof to school. Please remind your child to dress appropriately for pictures on February 17th.
- Friday, May 28, 2027: 8th Grade Springfield Trip - This is an optional trip for all 8th graders. It will take place during the school day. Students attending the trip will be counted as present. Cost is approximately $160.00 per student. A parent information meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 7:00 pm in the MPR at Sandburg.
- Thursday, June 10, 2027: All 8th Grade students will receive their promotion gowns to bring home. Please make sure they wear their promotion gown to the ceremony at MHS on Friday, June 11, 2027.
- Friday, June 11, 2027: 8th Grade Breakfast Celebration- CSMS hosts a breakfast for all 8th grade students. There is no cost to parents.
- Friday, June 11, 2027: 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony: Please note the promotion ceremony is OPEN SEATING. There are NO TICKETS needed for the Sandburg 8th-grade student promotion. The ceremony is held at Mundelein High School at 7:00 pm. Students will report to the high school at 6:45 pm.

- Jueves, 12 de noviembre de 2026: Asamblea de Bellas Artes de MHS para todos los alumnos de 8.º grado de CSMS (celebrada durante la jornada escolar).Estudiantes, ¡se les presentará el programa de Bellas Artes de MHS!
- Jueves 12 de noviembre de 2026: Orientación para los estudiantes de primer año de la promoción de 2031 de MHS. Todos los estudiantes de octavo grado y sus padres están invitados a asistir a esta reunión informativa en MHS.La escuela secundaria Mundelein le enviará directamente a usted la información relativa a la orientación para estudiantes de primer año.
- Miércoles, 18 de noviembre de 2026: Medidas de la toga de octavo grado(No se lleva ninguna gorra). A los alumnos de octavo grado se les medirá la estatura durante la jornada escolar. Recibirán su toga de graduación en junio de 2027.
- Miércoles, 9 de diciembre de 2026: Clase de MHS2031. Ubicación en el curso:Los consejeros de MHS estarán en CSMS.De 8:45 a 13:45, se llevará a cabo una reunión con todos los alumnos de octavo grado de CSMS para discutir, seleccionar y elaborar su horario de primer año. Los padres están invitados a asistir. Los estudiantes recibirán información sobre la selección de cursos antes del 19 de diciembre.
- Miércoles,17 de febrero de 2027: Fotografías de graduación de alumnos de 8.º grado: Los alumnos de 8.º grado serán fotografiados con toga de graduación y también con su ropa de calle. Todos los alumnos serán fotografiados y se enviarán pruebas a casa. Si le gustan las fotos, puede hacer un pedido; si no le gustan, simplemente devuelva la prueba a la escuela. Por favor, recuérdele a su hijo/a que se vista apropiadamente para imágenes el 17 de febrero.
- Viernes, 28 de mayo de 2027: Viaje de 8.º grado a Springfield - Este es un viaje opcional para todos los alumnos de 8.º grado. Se realizará durante el horario escolar. Los alumnos que asistan al viaje se contarán como presentes. El costo es aproximadamente $160.00 por estudiante. Se llevará a cabo una reunión informativa para padres el martes, 3 de noviembre de 2026, a las 7:00 pm en el MPR de Sandburg.
- Jueves, 10 de junio de 2027: Todos los estudiantes de 8.º grado recibirán sus togas de graduación para llevar a casa. Por favor, asegúrense de que usen su toga de graduación en la ceremonia en MHS el viernes, 11 de junio de 2027.
- Viernes, 11 de junio de 2027: Celebración del desayuno de fin de curso: CSMS organiza un desayuno para todos los alumnos de octavo grado. Es gratuito para los padres.
- Viernes, 11 de junio de 2027: Ceremonia de graduación de 8.º grado: Tenga en cuenta que la ceremonia de graduación es de ASIENTOS LIBRES. No se venden boletos. Se requiere para la promoción de los estudiantes de octavo grado de Sandburg. La ceremonia se llevará a cabo en la escuela secundaria Mundelein a las 7:00 p. m.Los alumnos deberán presentarse en el instituto a las 18:45.
